About Zumba

Picture
Zumba Fitness® is the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, created by Grammy Award-winning producers, and contagious steps to form a "fitness-party" that is downright addictive.
Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 10 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 90,000 locations across more than 110 countries.
When participants see a Zumba class in action, they can’t wait to give it a try. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

About Me!

Picture
I have always enjoyed dancing as part of performing and have performed in musical theatre productions across Scotland. This led me persue a career in performing with an MA in Theatre Studies and a BA Hons in Performance.  I have loved Zumba since it first came to Scotland-in fact, I was at the first ever class to be held up here and have rarely missed a week since!
Having trained as a Zumba instructor, I can't wait to share my Zumba-enthusiasm with you! Until Zumba, I  had never found a form of exercise that I was excited to do every week- I have    never been a gym bunny! However, I have found that through Zumba my energy and fitness levels have soared-just give it a try and you'll be hooked!

Remember you don't have to be super fit to join in. All classes are tailored to the needs of the participants so don't be shy, come and try!

Answers

A general class will include a 15min warm up, 40mins of cardio and a 5min cool down.
Wear whatever you feel comfortable enough to move in. Shoes should be comfy, supportive and easy to move in-trainers or dance shoes should be ideal!
Depending how much effort you want to put in each session burns between 400-1000 calories.
Zumba is designed for all ages and fitness levels, you can keep it very low impact if you want to. All fitness levels and shapes are welcome!
Not at all! Zumba is designed to be easy to follow, but more importantly, it doesn't matter if you never get the moves right, it's more important to be having fun, and getting fit!
Please bring plenty of water or juice, and a towel if you want.

No, the classes are easy to follow and it isn't progressive learning. However, the more you put in, the more benefits you will get out!
